I've been looking around for a CMS and a Vanilla Forums integration and I'm currently trying out Subrion for the first time (and liking it immensely so far). The problem I'm having though is that Subrion is currently version 3.1.2 and the Vanilla installation instructions is for an earlier version of 2.

Well I decided to try it out and after installing jsConnect it seems like everything was going smoothly until I got stuck at a certain point with the Authentication URL. The URL for Subrion v2 I'm sure is different to that of the current release though when looking for the login and logout info I couldn't find it anywhere. Is it possible to have the following field data so that jsConnect can connect to Subrion please or does it not currently work?
    • Authentication URL
    • Sign In URL
    • Register URL
    • Sign Out URL

    Hi

Thanks for your interest in our software. We've just checked the plugin and it should be compatible with the latest version of our software.
Please submit a ticket and your FTP details and we will try to connect the plugin and your new installation.

    Thanks!

Well I just looked further and the latest version of jsConnect is apparently giving Regex errors to everyone so they have said to use v1.0.3b. Now so far everything has saved however there is no such file as login.json as is described on this site.

There should not be any login.json as our system parses all the URLs and use the inner system to define what file to use.
Generally login.json would return a JSONed version of Login page.
Really, go with the ticket submission. I will check the plugin for you. Thanks!

    Hi,

I've just rechecked the functionality locally. As you correctly noted a new version of jsconnect generates Regex error, so you need to use jsConnect plugin v1.0.3b

Here are the instructions how to configure the plugin step by step.

    1. Install jsConnect plugin in your vanillaforums installation
    http://vanillaforums.org/addon/jsconnect-plugin-1.0.3b

    2. Enable it in the dashboard and click settings.

    3. Add a new connection with the following params:
    a. Client ID / Secret - you can auto generate them by clicking an appropriate button
    b. Site Name - put anything here, let's use Subrion as an example
    c. Authenticate Url - http://YOUR.SUBRION.URL/login/read.json
    d. Sign In Url - http://YOUR.SUBRION.URL/login/
    e. Register Url - http://YOUR.SUBRION.URL/register/

    4. Now install VanillaForums plugin in Subrion CMS: http://www.subrion.com/product/plugins/vanillaforums.html

    5. Configure it and put client ID / Secret params from the jsConnect plugin

That's it. It worked locally for me. If you have any questions please let me know.

That works perfectly now, thanks very much.

Just a note for the registration URL though, it should be: http://YOUR.SUBRION.URL/registration/

Also need to make sure that in the Vanilla Admin Dashboard you need to set Users -> Registration -> Method to "connect" after installing the plugin. Other than that though it was perfect.:D

Yep, pardon - that should registration/, as you noted. I am happy to advise.
